Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You'll have heard me whine about the long training runs I've been slogging through over the last few months in preparation for the Paris Marathon. Having vowed to "never do that again" after the Half Marathon last year, you could be forgiven for assuming someone held a gun to my head or promised me my body weight in chocolate if I signed up for the full 26.2 miles. All I can say, is running long distances must be akin to child birth, in that we forget the pain as soon as it's over, so that we'll do it again! Either that or I'm just not right in the head!

So here I am, with only three weeks to go until race day and to say my initial conviction has waned, would be putting it mildly! We all know I'm no Paula Radcliffe! I lack her whippet-like stature and natural ability to glide through those long miles! If you've been within whining distance, you'll be aware how hard I'm finding the training and how somewhere along the Seine, I've misplaced my mojo. It's perhaps a bit cheeky to ask, but, please help meeeeee. :)

Your generosity last year to the MS Society was mind blowing! Honestly, your support really touched my heart and also went a long way in helping me to keep going forward. "Thank you" doesn't convey just how grateful I was and still am.

This year I am asking for your amazing support again. This time, I'm raising money for the Strathcarron Hospice which is near Falkirk in Scotland. This place is incredible! When my Gran was in their care last year, I was incredibly impressed by the staff and the facilities. I was surprised to learn that they only receive from the NHS, a third of each pound needed. They have to rely on donations for the rest. I've sat here, trying to articulate just how special the staff and facilities are, but can't seem to do them justice. So I'll simply say this: they helped my Gran and our family through a painful time with dignity, professionalism and extreme kindness.  As a result, I ask you to spare a pound or two to help them continue to offer this care to others. Oh and you'll help me to plod round those 26.2 miles (I'm not dropping that .2!).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
