I am running the GREAT SOUTH 10 MILE (16K) RUN 2009 in aid of the Down Syndrome Education International (also known as "Downsed" and "the Sarah Duffen Centre").Down Syndrome Education International works around the world to improve education for young people with Down syndrome. Through a practical programme of scientific research, and advice and information services for families, professionals and organisations they help thousands but treat all individually.
My son Daniel has Mosaic Down Syndrome a rare form of Down Syndrome. I want to try to thank the centre for all the help and support they have given my family over the past nine years. It is clear you need not be on your own - we are all here to support each other through both good and bad times, achievements and struggles!I have never ran before January of this year and this will be a major challenge. I have been training regularly and have gone through all the aches, pains, blood, sweat and tears.
I am also doing this in remembrance of my friend’s son Sonny Lever a brave little boy who lost his fight for life.Lastly, I want to thank a few people, my husband and my friends for their support. Also my training partner Meryl without whom I would not have got this far (sorry for the swearing I loves ya really ). Gillian from Downsed, all at Northern Parade Infant and Junior School specifically Sue, Diane, Chris, Tony and Nikki to name a few.... You all know who you are....
