I will be taking part in an abseil event for BT UK and in honour of Shawn on Sunday 21st October. Please, if you can help, a donation of any size will be more than appreciated. It'll give me something to smile about on my way down from the Forth Bridge !

Thank you ! The first donation in memory of Shawn. Kirsty, you are a beautiful person.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is our story; my beautiful husband Shawn and our journey through the diagnosis of the devasting Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer.

Shawn enjoyed life. He loved mountain climbing, walking, paintball, fishing, photography, everything that involved using up his energy, Shawn loved. A keen rugby player for many years, Shawn also served with the Royal Artillery and Royal Irish regiments.
We moved to Scotland from London in August 2008, it was our dream. But that dream was abruptly interrupted less than three years later.

Our journey started on the 7th January 2011. Soon after being admited to St John's Hospital, West Lothian, Shawn was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumour. My husband and soulmate had cancer of the brain and was given a prognosis of 6-12 months. Shawn survived for exactly 5 months.

Shawn underwent 6 weeks of intensive brain radiotherapy at the Western General Hospital Cancer Centre, Edinburgh.

Stubborn and brave until the end, I held Shawn's hand, stroked his arm, and told him everything was ok. But it wasn't, I knew I was loosing the love of my life, and there was nothing I could do.

Shawn took his last breath and passed away peacfully at 9.35 am, Thursday 7th July 2011at St John's Hospital. He was 42 years old.

On the 15th July Shawn's funeral service was held in Edinburgh.

I remember standing and reading my eulogy to Shawn and looking at our 19 year old son, Thomas, and praising Shawn for his proudness in being a father. And the privilege of forever being known as Mrs Shawn William Clark.
