ChildHope aims to end the suffering of vulnerable children by supporting projects run by local organisations in ten countries throughout Africa, Asia and South America.
Tens of millions of children around the world today live in some of the most difficult and dangerous circumstances imaginable. They face extreme poverty, are exposed to life-threatening health problems, with little or no access to healthcare, and are denied the right to an education. An enormous number live and work on the streets and many are vulnerable to violence and other types of abuse, either from family members, employers, older children or the police. To support themselves and their families these children are often forced into hazardous work – it is estimated that 158 million children aged 5-14 are involved in child labour worldwide, and out of these, ten million children are being sexually exploited.
ChildHope's work includes:
• Supporting street children in India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Tanzania
• Reducing hazardous child labour and improving access to education in Peru and India
• Stopping the exploitation of girls in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Peru
• Improving juvenile justice in Brazil and Bangladesh
• Reconciling children with their families in Sierra Leone
• Assisting children including orphans affected by HIV and AIDS in Ethiopia and Uganda
• Reducing abuse in schools in Uganda
