Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am walking the Great Wall of China to raise money for a very special hospital, the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.
WE DID IT! Thank you to all who have worked with me to raise our first target of £3,000. Let's see if we can do even better for this excellent charity.

About my wish to support YCC:
My career has always been linked to cancer. As a surgeon I cared for people with head and neck cancer, a disease which can be devastating in its effects. In more recent years my main focus has been cancer research - new ways to diagnose cancer more quickly and working with patients and their carers to understand how best to provide support. My new job, as Associate Director for Patient and Public Involvement at the National Cancer Research Institute/Network brings patients and researchers together for best impact.
Cancer is so important. 1 in 3 of us will suffer from this disease, 1 in 4 will die from it and, according to the World Health Organisation, the number of people with this disease will double by 2020.
We are very lucky in Yorkshire. The new Cancer Centre is the largest in Western Europe and provides the very best in care. To build on this through research and through comforts for patients, we need everyone's support for the £10 million appeal.
I believe it is essential that we support the Centre and hope you will join me by donating to this appeal and by supporting me in my challenge. Having retired from my clinical career in 2009 due to generalised osteoarthritis I know this will not be easy but I intend to succeed.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
