We did it!! Me and Jenny finished the Hyde Park 5k on Sunday 6th September in 27 minutes and would like to thank everybody who has already donated. It is still possible to make donations though so we can reach the target of £100 being raised for BASIC, a charity based in Salford that helps people in their recovery from brain and spinal cord injuries.
I think most of you will know I suffered a head injury myself last year which thankfully I have now made a full recovery from. This gave some insight into what it's like being a patient for a change, which wasn't really keen on!! It also allowed me to empathise to some extent with what those who are more severely handicapped go through, and the valuable work charities like BASIC can offer. I was lucky enough to visit BASIC whilst on placement in Salford in and they certainly have great facilities there but with neurological disorders the commonest cause of disability in the UK, every donation makes a difference!
