Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 13th June myself and other Physiotherapy students will undertake the Three Peaks Challenge. This involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
The peaks are:
- Snowdon in Wales (1085m)
- Scafell Pike in England (978m)
- Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m)
Climbing times are suggested as 4 hours for each mountain which is a realistic target for a relatively fit person. Doing all three within 24 hours makes the challenge more difficult, draining your energy and depriving you of sleep.
I am doing the challenge to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
MS is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults. Around 100,000 people in the UK have MS.
MS is the result of of damage to Myelin - a protective sheath surrounding nerve fibres of the central nervous system. When Myelin is damaged, this interferes with messages between the brain and other parts of the body.
For some people, MS is characterised by periods relapse and remission while for others it has a progressive pattern. For everyone, it makes life unpredictable.
I would be grateful for donations of any size.
