A group of people will be taking part in one of the most challenging charity events there is - The Three Peaks.  We will climb the three tallest peaks in the UK:    The big Ben Nevis in Scotland, the notorious Scarfel Pike in Englands Peak District and Snowdon in Wales.   But not only will we climb all three peaks, the additional difficulty to the challenge is to complete climbing all three peaks in just 24 hours covering the distance between each by car.

The reason for our taking on this massive challenge.......

Over half of all children in Sierra Leone are illiterate, but they want to learn;  education is a top priority for the government but lack of resources and funding means that children have to pay to go to school and even pay for the furniture that they sit on!   Even then, the schools do not have the government funding needed to buy text books and learning resources.

A fantastic charity called CODEP is spearheding a major initiative to create libraries in every school in Sierra Leone.  It works in partnership with another brilliant charity called Greenworks who ship across books and furniture to equip these libraries - so far 100 libraries have been created and over a quarter of a million books are now in place where before there were none.

Our aim is to raise funds for Green Works in order that they can ship more furniture and books.  It costs £5,500 to send a container of 50,000 books and furniture to store them in.  Help make that difference to the people of Sierra Leone by donating now.

If you would like to join us on the climb and help fundraise then please email me at rebecca.turner@guardian.co.uk
