Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is Riding for the Disabled's 40th year and the Skydive at Weston on the Green on 11th October is part of their 40th celebrations.  RDA estimate that there are roughly 4 people waiting for their services for every 1 person riding – and they already have 24,000 clients.  By doing this sky dive, I will be helping RDA create more capacity by focusing on getting more volunteers and also more horses.  Importantly, they are also trying to get the message across that they deliver real and meaningful therapy - not just pony rides for disabled children (which is how they are often perceived).  They are working with more than 250 physios to get the very best for their clients and nearly half of the people who start with RDA are referred by a medical/therapy professional.  Just two weeks ago Ed Bracher, their CEO, witnessed an 8 year old girl with cerebral palsy take her first ever unsupported steps – as a result of riding – pretty amazing!

So please dig deep and, support this brilliant charity and donate now.

Thank you very much.

Simon

“The RDA has given my son the support he needed to become the person he is growing up to be.  I cannot say what the RDA means to me, the words don’t exist, but thankfully it is there for the families who need it.” John Osborne

“RDA centres immediately give the rider a level of intellectual respect because they are able to get on a horse and ride.  Not to mention the feeling of independence and being able to see, understand and gain knowledge of the world around them from a height.”  Rashila Nama

“Riding has given me confidence. It is something I can do that other people can’t, which makes a welcome change, as often in life I have found it is the other way round.  Doing what you love – it’s a great feeling!” Stephen Wagland

"Physically, the beneficial effects of riding mean that, although I walk with the aid of sticks and use a calliper on my left leg, my balance and build-up of muscle tone is still improving ten years later, although I was told I would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life."  Jill Thompson
