Nightrider 2012 · 9 June 2012 ·

We brighten the lives of seriously ill young people by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Our wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.

Story

My Challenge

As most of you know exercise and staying awake are two things I'm not best known for.  So on 10th June, for one night only, I'll be cycling 100km around London in the early hours of the morning.

Starting at 1am (yes you read that right) I leave Alexandra Palace on the Nightrider event cycling past a number of famous landmarks to Crystal Palace and back in an orbital route.

I've not been on a bike for nearly 20 years.  To make the challenge harder I've only been out training 4 times (as of two weeks before the big ride), and the recent arrival of baby no 2 has deprived me of precious sleep in advance of the ride!

The Cause I'm Fundraising For

Despite my lack of both sleep and training I'm determined to support the charity Rays of Sunshine which grants 'wishes' to terminally or seriously ill children between the ages of 3-18.

Money raised goes to make wishes come true and also to buy equipment for these children and support the hospices, hospitals and specialist schools that care for them.

How You Can Help

I'm hoping to raise at least £1,000.  I'd be hugely grateful if you would sponsor me as I endeavour to raise funds for this hugely deserving cause.

Thank you!
