My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hazel Rore, my friends mum sadly lost her short battle with cancer in November 2011. Having been diagnosed just 3 and a half months prior this was devastating for her partner Bill and 3 daughters Lisa, Linsey & Karin. CUP (Cancer of Unknown Primary) is an even more difficult disease to deal with, as unlike most cancers the specific location or required treatment can not be determined.

Hazel was an amazing mother, grandmother, partner, sister, aunt & friend, who dealt with her illness with courage and humour, the only way she knew how. As such a fun loving person she is sorely missed by all.

"Poorer for our loss, richer for our experience."

With your kind donation we are looking to support one of the very few charities that support the research of CUP. Jo's Friends exist to offer information and support to CUP patients, their friends and families; whilst raising awareness of this problem to stimulate action and improve treatment.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now

Some 5% of cancer diagnoses are of Cancer of Unknown Primary. To be told that you, or a loved one, has cancer but that the type is unknown (information that is fundamental to treatment) is a double blow. Jo's friends offer information and support to patients and carers whilst raising awareness to develop improved diagnosis and treatment.
