I was admitted to St Richards Maternity Unit as an emergency on Feb 7 last year following complications with my condition of Placenta Previa, the Special Care Baby Unit was put on standby as they thought they may need to deliver my baby at 29 weeks. Luckily things calmed down but I was told that I would not be leaving hospital until I had the baby. That baby – Theo- will be One year old on Friday March 18. I will be visiting the ward where I spent all that time to hand over the cash, cheques and online total to the wonderful team who watched over me and my precious bump.
Normally you see a snap shot of what goes on in Maternity but as I was on a Ward for 6 weeks I saw so many pregnant ladies come and go with various complications. They would arrive all times of day and night, every one of them in an anxious state (as were their families) Some had to use the Special Care Baby unit but all needed the care, time, support and resources of the staff and hospital. I decided then and there that I would raise money to help keep these services available and raise awareness of the absolutely fantastic work all the staff do. As I gained extra pounds due to the excellent hospital food (and it was) and lack of exercise it seemed a good idea to lose my pounds to raise vital £sss for St Richards Maternity Unit.
Thankyou for supporting me
