Story

Hello

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving London Marathon for Oxfam page.

I made a promise to myself in April last year. It was just before I was about to go in for an operation where the surgeon encouragingly warned me that there was a chance I might have a major stroke and lose all movement in my left side. The promise was that, if I got through without that happening, I'd run the London Marathon in 2013. Thankfully the surgeon was manually rather more dexterous than me and I'm in a fit enough state to make good on that promise.

I'm running for Oxfam and I'm aiming to raise £2,000, but it would be marvellous if we could beat that. Please let your family, friends and colleagues know, either by emailing them or tweeting the link or liking this page on Facebook.

Oxfam perform truly amazing work around the world.  They are present at major natural disasters, such as the Haiti earthquake, providing life saving essentials such as safe water and hygiene kits.  They also fund long term work allowing local people to use their own ideas and skills to fight poverty in their communities.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

PS it would be fantastic if you could come along and cheer on 21 April. I will never forget the people who cheered me round the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2011 when I had to limp my way round. Totally random strangers and yet their support really kept me going.
