Project 26.2 in aid of CAFOD: Three friends, Two motivations, One marathon...
On the 13th April 2014, we're running our first ever Marathon in London. Thankfully, on what already feels like an insane journey, we are all taking on this challenge together!
The fact is when the three of us entered the ballot back in April, we really didn't think we had a chance of getting in. The pipe dream was lovely but the actual thought of walking, let alone running 26.2 miles/42 kilometers, was mind-blowing. However, the good thing about us is that we love a challenge and when we've made a commitment we stick to it. So our motivation is a personal one that teaches us to challenge ourselves in all aspects of our life and we believe with hard work and determination the possibilities are endless.
Nearly a month ago now, Lexi contacted us to advise she'd got her ballot place. Next, Kate confirmed she was also in. Those of you that have entered the London Marathon ballot will appreciate that this is unheard of when entering first time! Rushing home, Sophie found her notification; a ‘sorry’ magazine with a picture of a Smurf and a caption telling her not to ‘feel blue', informng her that she had not got a ballot place. Having made a pledge that should only one of us not get a ballot place we would work together to fundraise for a charity place – for a charity that is common to all of us and our friendship - we got on the case to hunt out a place! CAFOD is an amazing charity and supports so many wonderful projects for people around the world. They are currently working closely with people in the Philippines who's lives have been devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. Thankfully, after only a few days of waiting they confirmed Sophie's place and the three of us were in and now running for an amazing cause; a superb motivation.
So thank you for visiting our page and showing your support for us by sponsoring us! This is a massive challenge for us all and your sponsorship will support us in all our training runs (most of which will be cold and dark!!!!!) and keep us going all the way to the finishing line on the Mall on Sunday 13th April 2014.
For now, over and out. If you see us out and about, pounding the streets, be sure to wave and encourage us on.
