Story
Dear Friends of StandProud,
We don’t like to approach you in this way however, we urgently need your help. Due to funding cuts, we must reduce three of the six StandProud brace-making locations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to skeleton staff (, , and Kalemie). Hundreds of children who have thrived by staying at StandProud's rehabilitation homes, where they get extra support, are being sent home. Needy new cases will have to go "on-hold" until new funding can be secured.
In the locations where cutbacks are taking place, we need your help in order to at least maintain a “brace repair” facility for the hundreds of former beneficiaries in these areas, rather than closing completely. We need to raise a minimum of $25,000 to keep these three facilities operational until the end of the year.

We are working hard with limited resources to identify and engage new funders so as to resume full operations as soon as possible but meanwhile we need to appeal to you at this time. Please consider contributing to StandProud/US or StandProud/UK so as to help us keep the centres operational in minimal form until other major donors can be identified. Please bring your friends and contacts to our cause as well.
StandProud is the largest provider of free leg braces in DR Congo. Since our founding in 1999, StandProud has helped over 5000 children to walk in its’ six service locations, four of which are in the conflict-ridden Eastern Congo. We are happy that we have been able to help “level the playing field” for so many children and young people with disabilities by enhancing their mobility through orthopedic equipment and surgery. We also take great pride in the fact that we have always been “there” for them afterwards, for example, to repair ageing or broken equipment so that they don’t lose the gains they’ve made.
