Harry

Here at Justgiving, we have the privilege of helping people raise funds for great causes and organisations. We come across people of all backgrounds, with all levels of computer skill, who raise money quickly and easily with our online tools.

This is where we share some of these great Online Fundraising Pages, and personal accomplishments, with the world!

Our current Fundraiser of the Month is six-year-old Harry Harlow, who has bucked the trend of small children everywhere and asked for no birthday presents!

“This year, I decided not to have any presents for my party. I saw on the TV that lots of kids my age had their presents washed away by a big wave. And their food and their houses too. My Mum asked me whether, if I was very hungry like them, I would rather have a hot meal or a present, and I said "a hot meal",” says Harry on his fundraising page at http://www.justgiving.com/harryis6

Harry is raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee, and joins around 100 others who have created pages on Justgiving since the Boxing Day Tsunami struck in Asia.

“Please ask your Mum and Dad to help you give something through this website. I have heard on the TV that every little helps, so whatever you can give, please give it.”

Harry’s mum Helen told Justgiving that he had been very excited to see the fund increase, reach and then exceed the target they had set.

“The website is a great way of making these kind of donations fun and interesting for children.  He even won the school Friendship Cup last week for his Tsunami effort so he's very proud of himself!”

We believe that Harry’s page shows just how versatile online fundraising pages are, and how anyone, of any age, can use them. You don’t have to be an Internet expert, you don’t even need to own a credit card - you just need to have friends who do!

So next time your child decides to do a sponsored walk or cycle ride, check out Justgiving and see how inspired they’ll be by having their own webpage.

If you’d like a page, check our charity guide to see if your charity is already a member of Justgiving and if not, you can nominate them here. We'll tell them you want to raise money for them and if they join us, you can create a page and become another of our fundraising superstars!
