Amazing results from Justgiving user survey!

In our drive to continually improve the service we offer our users, and our charity clients, we have surveyed over 1,000 people after they have sponsored a friend or donated to charity via the Justgiving site.

Out of 1,083 people sponsoring a friend, 1,072 or 99% of them found the site very easy or easy to use. For 78% of the people questioned, or 845 people, this was the first time they had used our site.

Comments left suggest that people not only find the site easy to use, but enjoy the experience of donating online as well.

“I like seeing that my donation was actually accepted in real-time -- and visually seeing how it contributed to my friend's goal,” another user said.

“The website was very easy to use and looked reputable - I feel brand loyalty already.”

More than half of the people using our online fundraising pages to sponsor a friend were given the option of supporting them that way, or giving them cash or a cheque instead.

The reasons given for choosing to use Justgiving confirm our belief that online fundraising is the most convenient and safest way for people to raise sponsorship, and truly beneficial to our partner charities.

  • 76.8% said using Justgiving was quicker and/or easier than writing a cheque
  • 12.7% of sponsors said they knew their money would go directly to the charity
  • An impressive 43.2% said they wanted to make sure the charity would benefit from Gift Aid on their donation
  • 1.6%, or 75 people, didn’t want to give the fundraiser cash.
  • Many others lived abroad and said it was the easiest way to sponsor their friend

“As I live in Australia, this was the quickest
and easiest way to donate and it was fun to
add a comment on the donor page too!”

We are proud to hear that 88.5% of the people who responded to our survey would come back and use our site again – with 132 of them saying they would do all their charitable giving online from now on! Only three people out of 1,083 said they wouldn’t use Justgiving again,

Of the users we surveyed, most are heavy Internet users. They go online for banking, travel, books, music and news. Ages ranged widely, with 25 users over 70 responding to the survey, and 40.5% were male.

Justgiving analysed the results of 1,083 users who answered a survey between 7th and 20th March 2005.
