On 30-31 August I'm getting on my bike and riding over 100 miles for the Children with Cancer Fund, a great cause. This doesn't seem too mad, but I'm riding on and off road on a heavy full suspension mountain bike. The furthest I've ever ridden before is about 35 miles, so this will be quite a challenge!
The plan is to leave from Southampton and head east along the coast to Portsmouth, Chichester, Brighton and back to Eastbourne, but who knows where I might end up.
I'd probably do it just for the hell of it, but I thought why not raise a bit of money for a good cause at the same time. It'll give me the motivation to get training and, more importantly, less personal guilt about sciving off work for a few days and peddling around the countryside looking at cows and green stuff and that.
Also, I'm doing this in collaboration with the EDMC annual Mini Run.
I've had a few offers of help with the challenge but I'm an unsociable b*****d of a cyclist and would prefer to go it alone so I can keep to my own pace. Please feel free to come and meet me en route though, and get the cameras ready in case I do go the wrong way and fall off the top of Beachy Head on the way back- would be a great clip for YouTube / the grand kids.
I'd really like to make £300. It would make a huge difference to the lives of many local children suffering from cancer so any contributions will be really appreciated. Even £1 each would be great. Thanks!
