Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My friend, Jane Watson, has decided to ride the Dartmoor Classic Cyclosportive on 26th June 2011, in memory of my Mum, Pam Lewis who died of cancer last July.

Jane spent a lot of time with Mum in her final weeks, as she is a Sister at Torbay Hospital and would go and see Mum on her ward after her shifts and also visited Mum at Rowcroft Hospice when she was moved there. They spoke about many things, but one conversation was about the Dartmoor Classic that Jane said she was considering entering. Mum told Jane that she would have entered this years event had she been well. Now Jane has told me she is doing the ride in Mums memory and is raising sponsorship for Rowcroft Hospice, who were excellent in caring for Mum in her final weeks. Jane hasn't riden a bike since childhood and this event is 65 miles!! What a brave lady.

I'm so proud Jane is doing this in Mums memory so have set this page up to ask anyone who wants to donate to the Rowcroft cause.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Message from Jane Watson......................................................

I would like to thank all my dear friends and family for their love, support and generosity, from the beginning to my completion of the Dartmoor Classic Cycle Sportive 2011. The cycle ride of my life! Especially my darling husband Tony (The Coach) for his patience, strength and faith in me throughout our training time.

My goal was to just finish the 65 mile ride, which I did in 6 hours 2 minutes. I'm sure Pam would have been pleased with my attempt, I hope to have raised over £800 for Rowcroft Hospice in Pam's memory. x

The ride was a brilliant life experience proving with love and support you can do anything. From leaving Kingsteignton in the thick fog to the blue skies and sunshine of the high moor, it was worth all the sweat, tears and aching limbs. I am proud and elated to have achieved my goal.

A big thankyou to the organisors and helpers of this fantastic event, The Dartmoor Classic Cycle Sportive 2011.

Love from Jane X

Competitor and Bronze Medal Winner
