My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you may remember I ran the London marathon last year in aid of the National Osteoporosis Society, raising over £11,000.

Osteoporosis meaning a porus bones, affects a great deal of people in the UK. In fact, 1 in 2 women over the age of 50 (and 1 in 5 men) suffer breaks to their bones, probably because of Osteoporosis.

The National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) have recently launched their new campaign, titled ‘for a breakfree future’, which aims to raise awareness of the condition and seriously reduce the 1,150 needless deaths caused every month by the disease. It’s a sad fact that 10% of those who suffer a hip fracture die within a month, and 30% die within a year. You or someone you know may well have been affected by the devastating results of osteoporosis, and many may not even realise they have it.

Gems TV would like to support the National Osteoporosis Society and in particular, their nurse-led helpline which over 13,000 people a year call to find out more about this disease, and for help with coping with it. On April 22 this year, Steve will once again be running the London Marathon, and we’re asking for your kindness and generosity in sponsoring him.

Anything you can give would be gratefully received, and all funds raising will go to the National Osteoporosis Society. On the day, you’ll even be able to follow Steve’s progress live on gems TV, and via an online tracker.

So please dig deep and donate now.
