Great South Run 2009 - Portsmouth 25th October
Welcome to my fundraising page for this years Great South Run
The plan...
...to run 10 miles around Portsmouth in under 80 minutes
...to raise as much money as possible for the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation
...not to be passed by a man dressed as a banana!
Why the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation (CLDH)?
This year I have decided to run in support of Tracy Hunnisett, the daughter of a work colleague, who this year will be celebrating 10 years since her liver operation. Tracy was only six weeks old when she was diagnosed with liver disease and had the operation aged 14. It is with the help of the CLDH that Tracy is now healthly and able to enjoy her life again. But so much more can be done, and with your help you can help babies and children like Tracy.
Some facts you should know.
- * least two children are diagnosed with a liver disease every day in the UK.
- * More Children in the UK are currently diagnosed with a liver disease than childhood leukaemia
- * Most childhood liver diseases are life threatening; all mean a lifetime of care
- * There are over 100 different liver diseases that can affect babies, children or young people
- * For most childhood liver diseases the cause is unknown
- * For most childhood liver disease there is no cure
- * CLDF is the only organisation in the UK dedicated to stamping out childhood liver disease
