Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We completed our ride on the 8th of September with a fairly grueling ascent to the Col de Corbiere followed by a frighteningly fast descent into Morzine where we downed some welcome cold beers.
Thanks everyone for your donations which are very much appreciated. I will keep the page open for a week or two in case of any late donations.
On 1 September I will be cycling with friends from Sharpthorne in West Sussex to Morzine in the French Alps. The ride is over 500 miles long and will cross the Jura Mountains and after crossing Lake Geneva, will climb up and up to Morzine. Three of us on the ride climbed Kilimanjaro last October and you all donated an amazing £1300 on behalf of the Royal Marsden Hospital. This year I am collecting for a less well known charity called Dyscover which provides support to victims of aphasia, a disability caused by damage to the language centre of the brain as a result of suffering a stroke or other illness.
Dyscover provides regular and long term support to people with Aphasia and has two centres in Surrey with the aim to help people maximise their communication skills.
Strokes can occur at any time irrespective of age or health. The result can be devastating to the victim and their family. Aphasia affects the ability to speak, read, write and understand what’s being said and can result in severe depression and isolation. There are an estimated 900,000 stroke survivors living in England and 33% of them experience difficulties with communication.
Please help by giving a donation to this very worthy cause.
Thank you.
