Easter 2011 will see me joining my good friends Bob Wilson (Arsenal Legend and Broadcaster) and Dave Tweddell (former GB international cyclist) in a major cycle event.
Bob is about to celebrate his 70th birthday by taking on what he considers being the greatest physical challenge of his life - a 600+ mile cycle trip around England in aid of the Willow Foundation. The challenge, which we aim to complete in 16 days, will include stopping at every Premiership Football Club (as well as going to Glasgow, as Bob was a Scottish international) to meet Bob’s old footballing rivals and local beneficiaries of the Willow Foundation, the charity that Bob and his wife Megs set up in memory of their daughter, Anna.
The Willow Foundation provides special days to seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds and has strong links with The Cicely Foundation. You can read more about their wonderful work and activities on www.willowfoundation.org.uk
Maureen along with her brother Mick and sister-in-law Becky will be giving up two weeks accompanying the riders and providing invaluable support.
As you may be aware I have been involved in a number of fund raising activities and challenges over the last few years but have avoided chasing family, friends, colleagues and associates for sponsorship……………………. however, this is the exception! Any financial support will be really appreciated and, as always, will be doubled (matched funded) by Maureen and I. So please see what you can do and help me in reaching my target of completing the course and raising £2,500!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the Willow Foundation.
This is a tough challenge! Please do your best to help and support – it will be really appreciated.
Cheers
Steve
