Having seen my grandfather Colin Cardy pass away after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer 6 years ago at just the age of 13 I have long pondered at what was being done in terms of research in this very specific form of cancer. I recently stumbled across the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund which was founded by Maggie Blanks In April 2004. It is therefore a relatively new charity and from that moment I knew exactly which charity I would be raising funds for.

Pancreatic Cancer has a 5 year survival rate of just 3%, the lowest of all major forms of cancers. It is in desperate need of research and receives very little awareness. My aim is spread the awareness, Progress with the research currently being done, and to not just raise money to acheive this but to change hundreds and thousands of peoples lives. To give those who come into contact with pancreatic cancer a higher chance of beating the disease and living a longer fuller life.

I have therefore set myself a world record attempt, a challenge that would put off the sternest of runners and competitors alike from even entertaining the idea of completing it. I have set myself the challenge of completeing, seven marathons, across seven continents, in just seven weeks. In the process running over the hardest terrains across the world and through the most severe and diverse weather conditions to speak of. I aim to become the youngest the person to have ever completed this challenge.

Many of us lead normal lives day after day, Avoiding such diseases such as cancer, although this may be true 1 in 3 of us will develop some form of cancer within our lives. My aim is to not just raise money to help those who contact pancreatic cancer in their lives, but to change their lives dramatically and give these people a fighting chance. A chance we take for granted everyday, and one I hope you or me never have to contemplate. By donating now you are saving lives and making a difference.
