On the night of Saturday 18 July 2009, I will be joining others in the Big Street Sleep in London (Hampstead) to raise awareness of the charity (Calcutta Rescue Fund) and to raise funds for its work.
I first went to Kolkata (Calcutta) as a volunteer Pharmacist in August/September 1993, during the Monsoon season. I returned in November 1994.
Calcutta Rescue provides free healthcare, education and vocational training to thousands of the poorest people living on the streets and slums of Kolkata (Calcutta), India. Things we take for granted.
This year Calcutta Rescue celebrates its 30th birthday.
