On Thursday 16th June 2011 I am doing a "golfathon" ! 4 rounds in a day with my son Tom, at my club, Girton Golf Club.
Tee times 4.30am, 8.30am, 1pm and 5pm approx !
In 2010 my dear friend Bob Stratton passed away after a year's battle with cancer.
I was very close to Bob in the 80's and early 90's. We stayed in touch and thankfully renewed our friendship over his last year. I had a great week with Bob in Spain last June. The picture shown was on his boat with him serving me food and booze. A good day !!!
The main purpose of the day is for me to remember Bob, his family and his many friends. Some of whom I have become reaquainted with after many years. Hopefully I can also raise a few quid for a couple of charities..
Firstly The Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge who looked after Bob so well in his final days. Arthur Rank's web-site is www.arhc.org.uk
Secondly Build Aid, Bob's own charity that he co-founded in 2005 following the 2004 South East Asian Tsunami.
Like many of us, I was unaware of how much work Bob did with this charity. Build Aid web site is www.buildaid.org.uk
I hope my friends and family will donate as much as they can for my sponsored golf challenge for these 2 great causes.
If you would like to join me and Tom for any of the 4 rounds please e-mail me on stewartrpratt@yahoo.co,uk
