YAY!

- You made it this far.... Kelvin and I are hoping to make it to South Africa along with many other children that many of whom will not have been out of their own city let alone country before.

The Amos trust (http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html) is a charity based in London that tackles in practical ways Human Rights issues in various places around the world.

They are organising The Street Child World Cup (/http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html) which will go ahead with a team of volunteers from here in the UK....

When there are big events in big, particularly developing, cities - there are consequences that most people are not aware of.

Street children are not wanted at the World Cup in Durban 2010.

This initiative is to try to ensure their welfare and safety during the World Cup in March 2010 but also to raise awareness of the plight of a street child within countries where they may not be treated kindly to say the least.

Any money given does not solely go towards the cost of us getting there but also to the running of the event itself in Durban and the expenses of the 8 teams of children coming from around the world, for example it costs:

- £20 For 1 child's passport into SA from Brazil

- £126 For the whole India team's passports

- £5 For a bbq/braai meal for 1 child

- £300 For Advocacy training and materials for one team - to empower street children to speak for themselves and their peers

- £12,000 For professional translators for the event

- £5,000 To publish the reports from the conference which will raise the issues the street children want to see addressed

You really can be a part of making dreams come true

... and lives become more valued ...
