We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In simple terms I will be going for a run every day during 2013 to raise money for Cancer Research UK and am hoping you will sponsor me!

Now those of you that know me will be aware I am definitely not a runner (especially if you have been unfortunate to have played football with me recently) however irrespective of weather, injury, sickness, time or where in the world I am I will run every day for a year. Why am I doing this? Well a few reasons if I am honest.....

If you were not aware my Nan passed away with Cancer in late 2012 and other close members of my family have also been affected by Cancer both in the past and at present today so “I want to do my bit to help!”

At the same time I have also been reading a book (which I would recommend) called "The Chimp Paradox" by Dr Steve Peters (http://www.chimpparadox.co.uk/) and in an attempt to work towards managing my Chimp (I am not going mad if you read the book you will understand) I wanted to undertake a new challenge for 2013.

In 2013 I will also turn 35 (unbelievable to some of you I know given my boyish looks) and I felt it was time I did something for charity and at the same time it would not harm my beer belly!

So combine these and this was the result!

As already stated I have never been much of a runner but my aim is to run a minimum of 2 miles a day with a minimum target of 1000 miles in total for the year. Runs will be recorded using Nike + GPS for outdoor runs or using a Nike + Sensor if on a treadmill for any occasions when I cannot get out, so you can all keep a check on how I am doing.

This information will be posted on Facebook & Twitter or if you wish you can see it on the Nike+ Website: http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/profile/Stu_Dickinson/

I am also intending to keep a blog where you can read updates and see photos - please see:

The good news is as this challenge is for a year you have plenty of time to sponsor me!

I have not set target to achieve in relation to sponsorship however the more money the better. I don’t like letting people down so without doubt any amount given will help motivate me with my runs during the inevitable hard times to come.

Now for the boring part for those of you that worry or are new to this:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and sponsor me when you can and any amount you can afford will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Stu & his reluctant Chimp!
