Like most people I have always wanted to run the London Marathon, but alas have never had the opportunity until now. We have been given an amazing opportunity to run on behalf of an amazing Charity called Merlin. Merlin are continously doing fantastic work ensuring that in times of famine of war they are there to keep the health services running throughout different parts of the world. Merlin are always there, and we wanted to be there for Merlin.
In these tough times we all take for granted the little luxuries we all have, Please take a moment to reflect on those not as fortunate as us, Think of the poor and needy children and others of this world who cannot appreciate what these luxuries are.
There are numerous personal reasons why we are running the Marathon, but the other reason is that relatively so little can provide so much. £1 Can vaccinate a child against measles, £10 can pay for 2,000 chlorine tablets for safe drinking water, £25 can pay for treatment to prevent HIV + pregnant mothers passing the virus onto babies. There are many other supplies that can be provided for retrospectively very little cost.
I appreciate that you get a lot of these requests, but please dig deep and help us help Merlin. If we can all do something so very small but with such a potentially very big impact then let's at least try and ultimately provide a better life for someone else.
