My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having been beaten mercilessly for years in the freezing cold on a rugby pitch, in the aid of charity, I have decided to try and help raise funds in another way. The Fatboys charity was set up by my good friend Mike Rees and his colleagues. Fatboys combines Rugby and Rock Music and raises thousands of pounds to buy presents for children with cancer and it donates to other charities too. The guys do a fantastic job and bring a lot of pleasure to a lot of children and their parents, who are all going through an awful time.

Each year we have a charity rugby match against Wiltshire Police, followed by an auction and live rock bands - with lots of drinking as well of course. Mike and his colleagues put in months of effort in to organising the event and a lot of money is raised as a result, but there are always more donations needed. This year is already a momentous year as it is the first time that the Fatboys won the rugby!! As you can imagine we celebrated well that night, especially as we had an AC/DC tribute band to entertain us.

I now want to raise as much money as I can for this very worthy charity, so I'm putting my body back in the water for my biggest challenge yet. Those of you who know me well enough will know that I was devastating over 50m in the pool but any further distances were not compatible with my skin type. Well on Saturday 12th September I'm going to squeeze my fat body into a wet suit and swim in a 1-mile open water race across Lake Windermere. I will be joined in the race by my little sister Alison, as well as Dr Hilary Jones and Phil Mitchell (sorry mate don't know your real name). If you see any reports of beached whales or Loch Ness Monsters in Windermere on the news on the 12th, you will know who it was!

Please sponsor me in my attempt to complete this race and you will be making a lot of poorly children very happy. I thank you in advance for all the donations that I receive. Please also ensure that the charity gets the gift aid.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks Very Much

Fat Boy Stu
