It is the coolest charity project ever!
The Tanzania House of Talent is a nonprofit music and arts centre that works with underprivileged children and young adults (mostly street kids and orphans) to develop their talents and build positive futures. It was established with the aim of providing music, dance and theatre lessons to young Tanzanian's for enjoyment, education and employment opportunities, and now it is one of the most famous academy's for the performing arts in East Africa!
The centre generates an income by putting on performances at corporate functions, festivals and other events. 60% of the income is given to the performers as a living allowance, and 40% contributes towards the centre's running costs, which includes providing the young people with nutritious meals six days a week, a safe place to sleep, and medical care. So, the centre is so much more than a performing arts academy! It functions as a home, a youth club, and a medical centre for the young people of Tanzania.
The Tanzania House of Talent is run through the charity Skillshare. Please please donate to Skillshare so that the Tanzania House of Talent can continue, it is such a worthy centre! There needs to be a House of Talent in every country, but to expand Skillshare need more funds! Everyone at Skillshare and the Tanzania House of Talent (and myself) would be so grateful if you could spare a few pounds towards this cause. Give the young people a future!
