Help the Surrey Crew raise £25,000 for Watoto - Raising Future Leaders in Uganda!!

Now is the time for Surrey or London to show everyone who's boss! On 26 September you get the chance to don your walking shoes and compete for the glory of being the fastest, cleverest or most fun team to race from London or Surrey to Hampton Court. And there will be prizes!!

Our crack team of race organisers have planned a phenomenal route for the race and a scavenger hunt along the way to add a few twists and turns to the adventure.

This year's trip to Uganda is going to be a big one, and we are aiming to raise approx £25,000 to work on various projects for Watoto in Uganda this December. This sponsored walk event is a great chance to grab a bit of exercise, get some random tasks done, plus a wicked way to go wreak havoc with the Surrey crew. After the walk, we'll all be meeting up in a country English pub to do life, touch base, connect, relate and catch up (woah, thats quite a lot).

So it would be great to have you involved, whether its taking part in the walk, or sponsoring some of the dudes who are gonna put their feet on the line. Can't wait!!

For those of you doing the sponsoring please note this ain't gonna be some easy stroll in the park on Saturday afternoon - the teams will be racing over 11 miles!! So encourage your mates by digging deep!!

How to get involved:
  1. 1) Grab your mates and join the Surrey Team
  2. 2) Join the Facebook page to get more info - 1/2 Way Sponsored Walk - London v Surrey
  3. 3) Grab a sponsorship form or give your sponsors this Justgiving weblink: www.justgiving.com/SurreyvsLondon
  4. OR sponsor the Surrey Team on this page (make sure name who you're sponsoring in your message!)

  5. 4) Put your walking shoes on 26 September 2009!!!!! Or just come along and cheer your mates on!

More details about where to meet and what time will be available soon so watch this space!

Get your walking shoes on 26 September and show us what you're made of!! Get on board, get sponsored, get walkin, win prizes!

Watoto - www.watoto.com

Watoto is a response to the cry of the orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa, whose lives have been ravaged by war and disease.

Founded by Senior Pastors Gary and Marilyn Skinner, Watoto is birthed through Watoto Church (formerly KPC), a thriving local church in Kampala, Uganda. We exist to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders, by pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills, integrity in conduct and moral values, so each child becomes a responsible Christian and a productive citizen of Uganda.

The goal is to rescue 10,000 children in Uganda by 2023 and the vision is to replicate the Watoto model all across Africa through fostering alliances and partnerships between Christian leaders in Africa and the developed world.

At Watoto, we believe that the Church is the solution to every community problem and that GOD has called us to establish justice and righteousness in our world. The church is, therefore, central to all we do.

The Watoto model encompasses the construction of Children’s Villages, which provide a homely environment, where children are housed, clothed, fed, educated and spiritually discipled, with the intention to train and equip them as future leaders. The goal is to provide holistic, residential care for every child so that each one will become a responsible Christian and a productive citizen of Uganda and Africa. The Watoto mission is not simply about saving as many orphaned and vulnerable children as possible. It is about raising them up to become future leaders who will bring about sustainable change in their nation.
The Watoto model is based on the core vision to Rescue a Child, Raise a Leader and Rebuild a Nation. Watoto employs an holistic approach to responding to the cries of the millions of abandoned and vulnerable children and women in Africa.
