Chain of Hope provides children suffering from life-threatening heart diseases with treatment to which they do not have access and we aim to develop paediatric cardiac facilities in developing countries. Chain of Hope provides cardiac care in two ways: · By sending out medical teams to treat children in-country and by setting up training programmes for local surgeons and medical staff in-situ. · By bringing children to the UK for open and closed heart operations as an interim measure.

My story

There is a massive amount of preventable suffering and death of children with heart disease in developing and war-torn countries which needs to be addressed. Through life-saving heart surgery provided by Chain of Hope’s volunteer surgical and medical teams, host families and support networks, a real and immediate difference can be made to a child who otherwise may not have any future if left untreated.

A few of the countries Chain of Hope send volunteer mission teams to are: Mozambique, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya and Jamaica where there may be none or very limited cardiac services available and where families have no monetary means to seek help in another country – treatment most of us are privileged to have access to should we ever need it.

There are so many success stories to tell, but I can say personally and on behalf of the volunteers, it is immensely satisfying and humbling to see the enormous difference made to the lives of the kids and their families as they start or return to school and plan their future. The photos on this page show 3 kids following successful surgery – please, please dig deep and make a donation to Chain of Hope.
