Hello all

I will be participating in a 6 day Volcano Challenge Hike, where a number of GVI volunteers will climb 4 volcanoes in the surrounding region of Antigua, Guatemala:

Volcano Pacaya (active!)

Tajumulco 

Santa Maria

San Pedro

All the money raised will go to the GVI Phoenoix projects.

The first of these projects started in Guatemala over 5 years ago, with 25 children . There are now over 500 kids in the two schools, which have been established with the funds paid by volunteers working on these projects.

Apart from education in literacy and numeracy, GVI Phoenix have also implemented various schemes, including food and fruit, Plan Ancianos, fertilizer schemes, trees, chickens, and scholarships .
