Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
All money donated will go to The Cove fundraising appeal and will stay in Cornwall.
This will be the third time I have run this fantastic event. The last time I ran was back in 2008. I am hoping to achieve a reasonable time of 4.30 but I am a few years older (not much wiser) and a few pounds heavier!
Training has started slowly but I am confident I can reach my goal on April 26th.
I am hugely privileged to work as a skin cancer support nurse at RCHT (a job role that is macmillan sponsored). Every day I meet people facing their own battle with cancer and it's my job to support them through their treatment pathway.
Treatment options for patients with cancer might be chemotherapy, immune therapy, radiotherapy or surgery but often it is more than one mode of treatment.
Tough treatment for a tough disease.
We really need a cancer centre dedicated to specialist support and advice which is why The Cove is being built. This will create an environment where patients, families and their carers can access the support they very much need. Patients can access counselling services, benefits advice, wig fitting and much more. I am so very passionate about this project.
So for me, a marathon really is a walk in the park!
I am very lucky to be fit and healthy and to have the support of family, friends, work colleagues and of course Team Macmillan!
So have a rummage down the back of the sofa, empty the pockets of your jeans or just give whatever you can to this fantastic project!
So in the words of my favourite Oncologist, Toby Talbot.. 'Let's kick cancers arse!"
