Over 8 intense days in Borneo, Richard and I will be testing our skills and endurance against 40 other competitors in a race to win the BMF Challenge 2009 http://www.britmilfit.com/events/Kinabalu_Page.aspx . We will be hiking, biking, rafting and climbing , 4100 meters above sea level. There will be blood, lots and lots of sweat, definitely some tears but in the process we will be raising money for a charity that has been close to our hearts since we visited in 2008.
Kibera, east 's largest slum, has more than 700,000 people living in an area of about 2.5sq km. The overnight train from Mombassa to runs through this slum with people living in shacks, half the size of most peoples' garden sheds, just a foot away from the train tracks. Rife with poverty, poor healthcare, water shortages and the spread of the HIV infection Kibera In Need, http://www.kiberainneed.org/ aims to improve healthcare, education as well as giving residents the chance to setup small businesses and be economically independent.
We're hoping that putting ourselves through this 8 day sweat fest will be enough to encourage you to put your hands in your pockets and help us raise lots of money to support the work of this fantastic charity.
