The SWIM!!!!!
Well we actually did it. We gathered on the beach at about 11.40 with approx. 50 others and after counting down from 10, rushed headlong into the very cold sea.
Strangely I was beaten into the sea by her majesty the Queen and Borat wearing his mankini and not a lot else! Thats not a sight you see very often.
A crowd of about 200 people cheered us on or were they laughing? I managed a few strokes before the coldness of the water took my breath away and Nic dragged me out.
Despite the cold, it was great fun and there was a great atmosphere.
You never know next year, you could be with us!
Happy new Year one and all.
Best wishes

Finally the day has arrived and its clear skies (at the moment). I am busy getting everything together following Nic's handy hints i.e Hot water bottle, clothes wrapped round it, brandy keg ( ok thats my handy hint). Suddenly this does not seem such a good idea but with friends and relatives gathering on the beach to cheer us on and knowing what we are doing this for, we can hardly not do it now! and I have found a good use for yesterdays left over goose fat.................as a body cream against the cold. Hubby doesn't look too keen though.
Well must dash as need to get into my swimming cossie ( that will take a while I can assure you and of course it will have shrunk since the summer) and fancy dress and head off to sunny Paignton by the sea.
Speak to you all soon.

BOXING DAY WALK INTO THE SEA!!!!!
Yes its true, I and my friend and colleague Nicky, will be taking a dip in the balmy waters off Paignton beach on Boxing Day and no we are not mad.................just a little odd! We will be taking the waters in fancy dress at 12 noon so if you are around and fancy a laugh at our expense, please come along and encourage us into the water.
Obviously we are not doing this just because we have nothing better to do but to raise money for the Torbay Refuge Service. The Refuge Service houses up to 14 families, women and children, who have had to leave their homes due to Domestic abuse and violence. Many of them have to leave most of their belongings behind and some arrive with next to nothing. For the children this can mean having to leave behind favourite toys and games.
We try to help them settle in with donated toys and the money you help us raise will go towards buying equipment for the playroom. We want to buy arts and crafts materials, a games console and games for older children and childrens welcome boxes containing things like felt tip pens, colouring books, reading books and a toy.
A £5 donation can buy materials for a play session
A £10 donation can provide 2 welcome boxes.
A £50 donation can buy 2 computer games or 10 welcome boxes.
Simple things like this can make all the difference to the children.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many thanks and Merry Christmas.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The money raised is split 50/50 between the Lions club of Paignton who organise the event and the refuge.
