Story
NHSP supports The Cavell Nurses' Trust which assists 1,100 UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants during times of difficulty every year and so, on the 22nd August 2015, Andrew, Lexi and Fraser will be joining the Cavell Nurses’ in Jasper National Park, Canada, for a week of challenge and adventure. The journey will involve white water rafting, rock climbing, mountaineering and much more!
This fabulous trio have agreed to help raise a minimum of £1250 each, which NHSP will charity match. This money will be used to help support nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants across the UK who are struggling financially due to ill health, disability, domestic violence and many other causes.

"My Name is Fraser, I’m 31 and from London. I’ve worked for NHS Professionals for over 7 years and in that time have developed a real passion and solidarity for the NHS and her staff. I have an interest in the outdoors and adventure and will be hiking Ben Nevis for the second time in July. I am a co-founder of There He Is, a group of like-minded people - mainly from NHS Professionals - who undertake challenges for fun and for charity. Our last event was the London to Brighton Trek on 27th June where we walked 100km in 30 hours for the British Heart Foundation. When the opportunity arose to support the Cavell Nurse Trust in the Mount Edith Cavell challenge it seemed the perfect combination of fun, adventure and supporting a great cause!"
"My name is Andrew Flynn and I have been working at NHS Professionals since November 2008. I have always had a keen interest in outdoor activities, and I cycle to work as my mode of transport, so am used to the outdoors and its unforgiving conditions. In the last 3 years I have completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. Last year I trekked up Ben Nevis, and plan to do so again this year. I also this year trekked 64 miles in 29 hours without sleep from London to Brighton raising money for the British Heart Foundation. I’m really looking forward to the Cavell challenge, and really looking forward to trekking up Mouth Cavell and glacier walking . I also look forward to raising money for the Cavell Nurses Charity, and feel very honoured to be a part of the centenary celebrations.
"My name is Lexi Ireland and I have been working for NHS Professionals since April 2014. I am an adventurous, sporty person who genuinely enjoys a challenge; I play Roller Derby (a fast-moving contact sport on roller skates), so am used to putting my body through strenuous activity! Once a year I hike the Snowdon Pyg track to raise money for my chosen charity of the year and with the weather in Wales, I am used to relentless rain/blizzards! I also take part in obstacle course runs and completed the Adrenaline Rush UK (10 Kilometres) in May in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Having seen this opportunity with the Cavell Nurses’ Trust, I felt that it would be an amazing chance to raise awareness of (and financial support for) the Trust - not to mention the bonus of it being a physically tough challenge."
