Hello! Thank you for visiting our Justgiving page!

So here we are again preparing for the Erewash Triathlon at which we hope to raise a good chunk of wonga for a very worthy cause! We have a slightly different line up this year with Bettina joining us (and whipping us into shape with her determined approach to training!) We've already been putting in the hours training, spending Thursday mornings in the pool working on our front crawl technique and evenings after work pounding the pavements. We've had some near misses with Bettina getting to grips with her new racing bike and Sarah continually throwing herself off hers! Mat is putting us all to shame with his pose running technique and with your backing we are all hoping to put in some impressive times this year and make you all proud.

Last year Sarah completed in 1:15:35 and Mat completed in 1:19:56 and we are hereby publicly pledging to beat these times!!!! (and we are fully expecting to be completely minced by Bettina's time!)

We will be fundraising for Skylarks a local branch of the charity Vitalise. Vitalise offers a variety of accessible residential respite breaks and other services designed for disabled people and their carers. They provide an invaluable service to help improve the quality of life for all.  We raised around £1250 for this great charity last year:

http://www.justgiving.com/team-politics/

and have recently started to forge a partnership with the charity which will hopefully grow to include volunteer work at the centre and placement schemes for staff and students from our department.

However, our fundraising efforts have become even more urgent in recent weeks as it was announced last week that the Skylarks centre is at risk of closure due to a lack of funding. All the booked respite had to be cancelled, meaning that for many that much needed respite will not come this summer. Every penny we raise for Vitalise really does count and hopefully we can help to make the difference and keep Skylarks open!

*just a quick note to say that in the very sad event that Skylarks does close, all the money raised will still go straight to the broader charity Vitalise to be used in other nationwide centres that do the same great work.

So please, think of that summer holiday you've been on or are planning and dig deep and donate as much as you are able now.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! YOUR SUPPORT MEANS SO MUCH TO US AND THE CHARITY! XXXXXXXX
