Emelia was diagnosed just after her 2nd Birthday with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, from being a strong baby who could stand she has deteriorated now to the point of a slow crawl with the muscles in her body starting to weaken. Type 2 SMA whilst not the most severe can lead to curvature of the spine, breathing difficulties and the constant use of a wheelchair. Whilst the condition is one of the leading causes of infant mortality it is still relatively unknown to many and our aim is to heighten awareness and raise money for this fantastic charity, one of only a couple in the UK.
