Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page... A Fund raising project to help girls in Afghanistan

As some of you know we a group of Year 6 girls trying to raise money for a charity called Afghan Connection who build schools for the children in Afghanistan.  These children  would otherwise not go to school.  Here is a little bit about the charity.

Afghan Connection has now built 30 schools and annexes for over 30,000 children.  At each school, we aim to provide a secure working environment where all children will study at a desk in classrooms, with access to safe water, latrines, sports and science equipment, libraries and computer rooms.

The resources provided inspire the children and help them to have a chance to work towards a better future.   English lessons and computer studies are in particular demand as qualifications improve chances of employment. Many of our students wish to become doctors, nurses, teachers, agriculturalists and engineers and it is wonderful to see some of them studying science in properly equipped laboratories-

Walls around our schools and meeting halls large enough for sports activities as well as assemblies give real hope to the girls that they too might be allowed to do sports as a part of their daily lives.

How we are helping

Unas-e-Nayak school is for 911 girls in Yakawlang district. It was the SCA’s first model school in this province and provides education up to Grade 12. All the students who graduated in 2008 have gone on to university in Kabul.

We are aiming to build a resource centre with a big hall for sports, a computer room and a science laboratory.   We are aiming to raise £25,000.  To start our fund raising we are doing a few things between now and Christmas .

1. Making Jewellery to sell at the Christmas Fairs.

2. Cooking the food for the parents Christmas party and asking the parents to give a donation.

3. Asking friends and Businesses if they can help us in anyway.

We hope you can join us in contributing to this worthy cause.
