Story

LITTLE HOSPICE HEROES...

Tom was diagnosed terminal with nasopharyngeal carcinoma October 15 2011 aged 25. It is a rare cancer (behind the nose) here in UK, and it had already spread to his neck, collar bone, lymph nodes under both arms and the lungs. Since November 2011 Tom has had 6 different chemotherapy treatments and radiotherapy to two areas, in between each treatment (breaks) his cancer has grown and spread further to the chest, brain, ribs, spine and hip. Sadly, on Monday 23 March 2015 we were told the devastating news that there's no longer anything they can do for Tom. We knew this was to come, but nothing ever prepares you for this and we are all devastated. A few days later, we broke this news to our two daughters, Tienna 7, and Ziani 4... The hardest thing we have ever had to do! Tom is the most selfless man I know, hes been so brave and courageous throughout his fight and despite the shock, still smiling! Tom has been attending Pendleside hospice for over a year now for appointments with the doctor there and this is where he's chosen for his end of life care. This hospice provides outstanding care and support to poorly people like Tom, and the staff there are wonderful!

On Sunday 17 May 15 is Little Hospice Heroes Walk. Tienna and Ziani will participate in this walk to represent their Daddy and all the patients who are cared for there.

Pendleside Hospice relies on fundraising/donations and any amount big or small will be a fantastic help towards giving people like Tom and our family the outstanding care and support they need.

All donations are appreciated and for such a worthy cause.

UPDATE ON TOM - 5.10.15

Hi all - those who follow, have made donations and those who come across this page..
Tom has been admitted into the hospice twice since the girls did their walk and he has deteriorated quite quickly.
The hospice have been absolutely amazing with us all as a family, especially Tom. I spent quite a bit of time there and took the girls with me a few times and the staff made us feel 'at home' and comfortable. They were there to support us all and spent lengthy amounts of time comforting us and answering any questions we had.

An all round wonderful place, the staff are real diamonds!
