<p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">On Sunday 20 May I&rsquo;m running the BUPA Great Manchester Run for the Salford Royal Trust, for Alex Lawes.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Last April, Alex was in Manchester celebrating his girlfriend&rsquo;s 21 birthday when he tragically fell to his death during the night out. (<a href="http://www.buckinghamtoday.co.uk/news/local/goodbye-to-a-beautiful-person-inside-and-out-1-2571414">http://www.buckinghamtoday.co.uk/news/local/goodbye-to-a-beautiful-person-inside-and-out-1-2571414</a>)</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Alex was a good friend of mine and was someone that I&rsquo;d known since I was about 16. We played football together for a number of years and he was always one of the people I most looked forward to seeing when I went home to see my family and friends in Winslow. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">He had the most infectious laugh and smile, and was always able to make you laugh even if you really didn&rsquo;t feel like it. He was a selfless character which was epitomised by the fact he had, without telling anyone, registered to be an organ donor and subsequently gave the gift of life to 5 people. There isn&rsquo;t a day that goes by where I don&rsquo;t think about Alex, and I know I&rsquo;m not the only one as he was such a popular and down to earth person.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Alex was cared for in his final hours by the Salford Royal Hospital, who did all they could to keep Alex with us for as long as possible. With the run being in Manchester, there seems no better cause for me to run for and it&rsquo;ll be an honour to do so.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial;">It&rsquo;s going to be an emotional day, but I&rsquo;ll do my best to make Alex, his family, those closest to him and all those that knew and loved him proud.
