We are aiming to encourage 1000 people to donate just £3 per month. Your money will be used to cover all of the operating costs associated with our essential expansion progamme so that we can continue to meet the needs of local families and individuals in Milton Keynes and the surrounding villages who hit a short term crisis.
In 2009 The Food Bank gave out 3104 food parcels which was a 30% increase compared with 2008. As of the end of February 2010 we have already given out 608 parcels which is another 20% increase compared with the same period last year, which is why the warehouse is critical to our sustainability!
Food Bank Essential Expansion Programme:
1) Get our warehouse up and running by April 2010 to enable the following activities to take place:
a) Expand our service
to include baby food and toiletries.
b) Increase the
standard number of food parcels offered per household from 3 to 5 in a rolling
12-month period.
c) Receive bulk food
donations & distribute via various community groups.
d) Create an
education centre where local schools can bring groups of children to experience Food
Bank first hand.
2)
Get our new vehicle on the road to enable the following:
a) Provide a delivery
service to the elderly, disabled or housebound.
b) Launch a "Mobile Food Bank" so we can take our service out to parts of the city and surrounding villages not currently covered.
