My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Friday the 4th of September myself and my good friend Luke will be setting of for Scotland to start my latest adventure! of course whether we ever get there via our illustrious and world renound national rail system is questionable but i promise you all if the railways can do it then so can i, and i will arrive in Lands end on the 18th of September!

Every year i like to set myself a challenge, primarily to motivate me too do some exercise and keep fit, last year i completed the great north run witch was a fantastic experience, however due to my lack of preparation I was exhausted by the end of it. Lessons have been learnt however and for this challenge i have been doing a lot of training rides and believe that while this is still going to be incredibly hard i am going to be able to complete it.

We aim to cycle 80 miles a day, for 12 days. we will not be staying in hotels etc to try and minimise costs as all costs will be covered by ourselves personally, no money you donate will be used for anything for this trip. it will all go to Body to help people who need it. instead we will be camping which will make this ride harder as we have to carry tent and sleeping bags as well, we are also doing this trip southbound, our logic being to get the longer, less pleasant journey to Scotland out the way first and then have a easier trip getting home from Lands end, the down side of this is that most people go the other way due to the prevailing north easterly winds experienced in the UK, making our journey harder still. we expect the total distance to be around 900 miles, however we haven’t actually planned our route yet, its more exciting to wing it i feel! haha

Either way, this is something I've always wanted to do since i was a kid and I’m determined to achieve this, there’s no way i intend to give up half way through. it is however going to be extremely physically challenging with the timetable we have set, to give you some idea i met a club cyclist on my training rides and he said his colleagues did it averaging 60 miles a day and took three weeks. myself and Luke are very much amateurs so anything you can spare to donate towards Body for this will be extremely appreciated.

Thank you and i hope you can spare something to donate. i will try and give updates on our progress via our facebook group http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=120928629054&ref=mf and thank you very much!

Tom

P.S dont feel shy about exceding my target lol! i can always raise it again, i just thought id start with a manageable figure. but i think we can beat the £384 i raised for the great north run. that was only 13 miles!
