However, due to huge pressures such as poaching, illegal capture for trade in both live animals for pets, and animal body parts for the oriental medicine trade, as well as widespread habitat destruction, many species and habitats are under serious threat. As an Education officer at Blackpool Zoo, I am involved first hand in trying to raise money and awarenss to help the conservation of this region through the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) Southeast Asia campaign.
