Hi All,
As some of you may already know (but for those of you that don't), on Sunday 20th September I am entered in to do a 56 mile Ultra Marathon.
The run starts at 6am on Blackheath in London and ends up on Brighton Beach. I only have 13 hours to do it, which doesn't sound too bad until you are told that there will be no sign posts and you have to navigate over the North and South Downs with a map and compass. My longest run so far has been 30 miles so only another 26 to go!
As part of this, I will of course be doing it for something special (on behalf of Hugh Pritchard in the picture). Rather than do it for a huge charity and not know what the money has been spent on, I have chosen to do something specific to benefit babies which are born and have to spend their first few days, months or sometimes years in hospital.
Therefore, I would like to raise some money to help purchase some fan units for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Rose Ward at the Royal Brompton Heart and Lung Specialist Hospital.
These fans will contribute a great deal to the comfort of the babies and young children, with heart and lung problems whilst they stay on these wards.
The PICU has 20 beds and the Rose Ward has 36 beds. At the moment there are about 3 fans to go around each of these wards. I have set the account up so the money will actually go towards purchasing fans for these wards.
As I have learned, these babies need to be kept comfortable (even during the winter months when the heating is on as the windows cant be opened) and every penny will count towards purchasing these fans.
Even if it's just £1 it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all
Tim
