Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've been running for a few years now, and wanted to set myself a new goal. A half-marathon seemed like a reachable one. And the chance to raise money to help Epilepsy Action makes it a worthwhile one, too. My younger brother has epilepsy and I know the benefits that funding can bring.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. They’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
25-Aug update: Thanks to everyone who's been so generous so far. I'm nearly at my target, but there's no reason to stop there! Please help with whatever amount you can and let's see how much assistance we can generate for Epilepsy Action.
Yikes. I'm really going to have to run this thing now.
27-Aug update: Wow! Thanks again, everyone. I've gone past my fundraising target, which is great. If you're feeling generous, though, don't let that stop you! I've got a lot of training left to do, and a big half-marathon to run on the day. Every few pounds will add a lot.
29-Sep update: The generosity continues! Thanks to everyone who continues to give, supporting Epilepsy Action UK. I've smashed my fundraising target, but I see no reason to stop there. My training's been going really well. I've already done 12 miles on a fairly hot afternoon, and have now decreased the distances a bit in the last couple of weeks before the race. I've got all my stuff from the organisers - jersey, race number, timing tag, etc. I'm getting excited, and it's now about what time I think I'll be able to do on the day.
12-Oct update: I DID IT! It was a great day, with loved ones there to support me, cool dry weather, great fellow runners (15,000 of them!), a great racecourse, and cheering crowds along the entire route. My training worked well: I felt good throughout, didn't have to stop once, and came in well under my 2-hour target with a race time of 01:50:57. I'm really pleased to have been able to raise this money for Epilepsy Action, and went by their tent to speak to them afterward. I'm only a little sore today. I'd definitely do that again.
Thanks so much to everyone who donated, it really spurred me on. You can still donate, though, if you were just waiting to see if I'd actually do it!
