Ben is experiencing real difficulties in regard to fundraising at the moment, because of the downturn in car sales and the huge reduction in the number of people working in the industry. Ex Chief Executive - Geoffrey Atkinson OBE and his wife Tina (the previous Fundraising Director) leapt out of their comfort zone to draw attention to this situation and in the process raised a substantial amount of money - £11,000 and rising!!
The skydives took place on a beautiful clear blue sky day on Saturday 17th October, friends from the Fellowship of the Motor Industry joined us for the occasion and kept us diverted whilst we waited for our turn to take to the skies. The experience was absolutely fantastic, the only nerve wracking bit was the actual leap out but the instructors were suberb and pretty soon we were enjoying the view from 15,000 feet in the sky. You can see three of the many photos if you click on the photos to the left of this page, the first gives you an impression of what 15,000 feet looks like and the other two depict the intrepid pair in freefall, giving it all a big thumbs up.
We would like to say a big 'thank you' to everyone who sponsored us both on and off line, your good wishes and support of us and Ben made the whole exercise one of the most memorable for us. If you have not yet sponsored us and would like to do so this page will remain open for the next couple of months.
Giving online through Just Giving means that your sponsorship will go directly to Ben and Just Giving will claim back the basic rate of tax you have paid if you remember to say 'yes' to the Gift Aid claim. As a higher rate tax payer you can reclaim the difference between basic and higher rate tax. The basic rate tax will then be sent on to Ben by Just Giving with only a small administration charge being deducted beforehand.
