Encephalitis International is the only non-profit of any size anywhere in the world providing direct support and information to people affected by encephalitis (brain inflammation); raising awareness of the condition; and driving research to improve diagnoses, treatments and outcomes.

Story

The world recently lost Jo McGee, a fabulous 26 year old with a tremendous appetite for life. I worked with Jo in Camelot and her caring attitude and warmth were a real pleasure to be around. She was widely regarded as a shining star with a wealth of possibilities ahead of her.

Jo had taken a one year sabbatical to travel the world, and this was typical of her. Never one to just sit and and let life pass her by, on the contrary she was seizing every possible opportunity to see the world and be an amazing part of it.

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain that causes rapid brain damage and is often fatal. Without treatment, encephalitis results in severe brain damage or mortality within 7-10 days.

Jo became ill with encephalitis and died in Bangkok hospital on 5th March 2012. Your donation will help the lives of those affected by encephalitis, raise awareness and help fund research to prevent more lives being lost to this condition.

Please dig deep and donate what you can.
